Natural Sleep Remedies for Kids
I am at a breaking point! My kid is almost 5 years old and WILL NOT SLEEP through the night! Honestly thank god for my Nighty Night. At least with it I’m able to get right back to sleep after he ineveitably wakes me up at 2AM.
Can I give him some?! This kid seriously needs to sleep.
Any help you can give, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have a few natural remedies that have helped my own kids get to sleep easier in the past. I use them as a way to reset their sleep cycle and get them on a better sleep pattern.”
Dear Really Tired Mama,
I hear you LOUD and CLEAR!!!! Having no control over your own sleep schedule is one of the most frustrating things about parenting. They can keep you up at all hours of the night, and they usually come in at the crack of dawn in the morning, rearing and ready to ROCK. It’s…challenging!
I am so glad your Nighty Night is working for YOU. It sounds like it is doing the trick of getting you to sleep quickly, allowing you to wake up in the night as needed, and helping you get quickly back to sleep when ready. That, at least, is awesome news. Unfortunately, Betoken does not recommend giving Nighty Night to kiddos. There just isn’t enough research on the botanical ingredients like Valerian Root and Hops for their little bodies.
While I don’t recommend Nighty Night, I do have some other options that I have used with my children with some success. I have used these to reset their sleep cycle and get them back into a good pattern, or for when we are traveling and they are in a foreign bed and therefore unlikely to sleep well. I don’t recommend using any of these for an extended time, and of course, you should probably check with your child’s pediatrician before starting any of these.

The Good Patch, Nite Owl: The Good Patch makes a lot of different patches, both for kids and adults. This cute pack comes with 6 patches, each with a little owl on the front, and a botanical blend that seeps into the bloodstream on the back. The botanical blend consists of Tart Cherry, Chamomile and Skullcap. I like that this is Melatonin-free (which gives my little guy nightmares) and I tell my kids it’s like a tatoo, and they (mostly) happily put it on.
This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray: For the nights when the kids get the zoomies and I need them to calm the eff down, I spray this on their pillows to help them fall asleep faster. It contains lavender oil for aromatherapy, chamomile oil and vetivert oil for their calming properties. It smells really good, and does the trick to calm everyone down.
Genexa Kids’ Sleepology: For the kids who are anti wearing a patch all night, Sleepology is a great choice. It contains Chamomile, California Poppy, PassionFlower, Pulsatilla, Lemon Balm Skullcap and Valerian (lower dose than in Nighty Nights). These are non habit forming, and work for them just like your Nighty Nights work for you! I love that they are also Melatonin-free.
Vicks Pure Zzzs: If you’ve tried and loved Melatonin for your kiddos in the past, or want to give it a try, Vicks Pure Zzzs gummies are a blend. ofMelatonin, Lavender and Chamomile and can help kids fall asleep naturally.

Dear Jane, I am officially a meme. You know the ones about dodging Covid? Somehow, despite numerous close encounters and look-a-like symptoms, I haven't had Covid yet. I know so many people that have, I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority in my friend group. Of...
Dear Jane, As I coast well into my 30's, my days of hard charging and partying on the weekends are behind me. Of course I know this makes sense, and I couldn't party now even if I wanted to (the multi-day hangovers kill me!) but I am kind of at a loss as to what to...
Dear Jane, I'm trying not to bite off more than I can chew this New Year. I want to start a new wellness routine, but I don't want to set myself up for failure. For the past few years I have made New Years Resolutions, but I only find myself able to stick to them for...
