Dear Jane, Anxiously Returning Back to Normal Life
I know that I should be excited that with the roll-out of vaccinations, life is closer to returning back to ‘normal’ with fewer restrictions and more reopenings, but instead, I find myself feeling nervous about going back to the way things used to be.
I’ve gotten comfortable working from home and I’m dreading going back into the office. Also, since the lockdown, I’ve ironically noticed that my relationships with family, friends, and children have gotten even stronger. We check in on each other more often and I’ve grown fond of our weekly Zoom hangouts.
I now make it a point to go outside for daily walks and I’ve fallen in love with reconnecting with nature which is something that I was missing prior to quarantine. Plus, I cook more and try new recipes at home which is a skill that I always wanted to work on but never had the time to since we always went out to restaurants for dinner.
My anxiety has been on the rise with the anticipation of falling back into the monotony of my old day-to-day life now that I’ve grown to love so many things about my ‘new normal.’
Jane, how do I deal with the anxiety of having to return back to a type of normalcy that I’d rather leave in the past?
– Anxiously Awaiting Back to Normal
Never forget that you get to define the quality of your life – both pre and post pandemic.”
Dear Anxiously Awaiting Back to Normal,
Oddly enough, I feel exactly the same. Amidst the chaos and uncertainty of the pandemic, a sense of peace and calmness has emerged from having to slow down and reconnect to self, nature, and our loved ones. The first thing I would do to protect the peace that you have found in your new normal is to know that you still have the power to create the life that you want to live regardless of things “going back to normal.”
The next thing I would do is to treat yourself to the Chill Mama Bundle which includes our best-selling Hello Mellow capsules that combine the powerful benefits of hemp CBD with other plant botanicals to take the edge off of your day-to-day stress and anxiety.
The bundle also comes with an oversized and super comfy Oatmeal-colored sweatshirt that’s perfect to relax in during the day, snuggle in at night, or enjoy its added comfort on your daily walks in nature.
In addition to taking the chill pill capsules and enjoying the comfy sweatshirt, try meditation to ease your anxiety, after all, in the present now there is actually nothing to worry or be anxious about.
From your letter, it seems as though you’ve done a wonderful job of adjusting to life in lockdown in a healthy way. So when your mind starts to race about what the future might look like, take a Hello Mellow capsule, focus on your breathing, and return the peaceful power of being present in the current moment.
Also, remember that you can incorporate all of the things that you love about your new normal into your future. You don’t have to “go back to normal” if that version of your life no longer serves the highest version of yourself that you are becoming.
Never forget that you get to define the quality of your life. This means asking your boss if you can permanently work from home (or as often as possible), continue to incorporate reconnecting with nature into your daily routine, and being mindful to cultivate loving and strong relationships with your friends and family post-pandemic.

Dear Jane, Whenever I have to tell someone ‘no’ or put my own needs first, I seriously have mini panic attacks. I get a pit in my stomach, my heart starts to race, and I start to sweat all over. I’ve never been good at standing up for myself and I hate feeling as...
Dear Jane, We recently hired a new assistant to join our team and instead of taking things off of my plate, I feel more stressed and overwhelmed than ever. I’m doing my best to on-board him but I find that I have to show him how to do the work and then I have to go...
Dear Jane, Three weeks out of the month, I’m usually pretty cool, calm, and collected, but during the fateful week prior to my period and during my period, my mood is all over the place - and don’t even get me started about my painful cramps. Usually I’m able to have...
