Cannabis Extract May Prevent Covid-19 Infection, studies say
I am officially a meme. You know the ones about dodging Covid? Somehow, despite numerous close encounters and look-a-like symptoms, I haven’t had Covid yet. I know so many people that have, I’m pretty sure I’m in the minority in my friend group.
Of course, I am taking precautions! I’m triple vaccinated, where masks in public, and avoid people who are sick. However, I do still go out to eat sometimes, and I have children in school who are little germ magnets!
I recently read that Cannabis use could be a factor in avoiding infection. Would my CBD Hello Mellow/Nighty Night routine be contributing here?!

The research suggests that it is the cannabigerolic acid and cannabidiolic acid in the Cannabis plant that may be preventing Covid-19 into the cells. Two common compounds found in Hemp.”
Dear Feeling Super Chill and Lucky AF,
First, congratulations on your mostly clean bill of health of late! Even though you’re triple vaxxed and most likely wouldn’t get THAT sick if you got Covid, we still don’t know the longterm effects, and I’m sure you’re happy you’ve avoided it so far!
Second, yes! I’ve read the articles about Cannabis and Covid-19. A lot of people are assuming the research is about Marijuana, since that is what most people associate with “Cannabis”. However, the research actually states that it is the cannabigerolic acid and cannabidiolic acid in the Cannabis plant that may be preventing Covid-19 into the cells. These two compounds are commonly found in…you guessed it…Hemp!
Not to get too technical on you, but Cannabis actually refers to a species of plants under which Hemp and Marijuana fall. Hemp is defined as Cannabis that contains 3% or less of THC, whereas Marijuana is Cannabis that contains more than .3% of THC.
The STUDY found that cannabinoids, such as CBD, prevented entry of SARS-CoV-2 (Covid) into the cells. It further found that CBD was equally effective against variants of Covid!
So – does it make sense that your CBD routine could be contributing to the fact that you are one of the lucky ones who haven’t yet been infected with Covid?! I definitely think so. And in any event, it certainly isn’t hurting the cause.
Researchers did make sure to state that CBD consumption alone is NOT going to prevent Covid. They emphasized that this course of action is most effective when also paired with vaccinations and masking.
So, what do I suggest? Keep up your CBD routine!

Dear Jane, I am at a breaking point! My kid is almost 5 years old and WILL NOT SLEEP through the night! Honestly thank god for my Nighty Night. At least with it I'm able to get right back to sleep after he ineveitably wakes me up at 2AM. Can I give him some?! This...
Dear Jane, As I coast well into my 30's, my days of hard charging and partying on the weekends are behind me. Of course I know this makes sense, and I couldn't party now even if I wanted to (the multi-day hangovers kill me!) but I am kind of at a loss as to what to...
Dear Jane, I'm trying not to bite off more than I can chew this New Year. I want to start a new wellness routine, but I don't want to set myself up for failure. For the past few years I have made New Years Resolutions, but I only find myself able to stick to them for...
